What is a GUID?
A GUID is an acronym for 'Globally Unique Identifier'. It is a 128-bit integer number used to identify resources with a unique identifier. The term GUID is generally used by developers working with Microsoft technologies, while UUID is used commonly used elsewhere. The therm UUID stands for 'Universally Unique Identifier' and is basically the same as a GUID.
